THE THRILL OF A LIFETIME

It was just another car show for John Raghu at the March 10 MacDill Air Force Base Car Show until he saw Peter Merritt, a retired 20-year veteran of the United States Air Force pull up to the registration table in his black 2009 Nissan GTR.
Raghu went over and struck up a conversation with Merritt and the next thing you know, Peter asked him if he wanted to take a quick sprint around the parking lot. How come he didn't ask me, I thought? Anyway, Merritt revved up his 500-horsepower beast and away they went. I went over to check out the ride before they got out of the car, and saw that Raghu had a grin from ear to ear. I think he was impressed.
So, the next time you're at a car show, don't be surprised if you're fortunate enough to catch a quick ride in somebody's hot rod that will put a smile on your face and make you appreciate car shows.
